Soil - Subsoil
The soil of Larissa's Prefecture is distributed to 48% flat, 25% semi-mountainous and 27% mountainous.
The main characteristic of the morphology of the Prefecture is the flat soil. The plain of Larissa has an extent of 589 square km and constitutes one of the biggest plains of the country with thick and fertile soil.
The subsoil of the Prefecture is not particularly rich in minerals. There are layers of manganese and marble in the region of Larissa, chromium and manganese ones in the region of Farsala, asbestos, chromium, manganese and limestone ones in the region of Elassona, clay and limestone ones in the region of Agia.
