Takis Tloupas was born in Larissa and there he lived and created his photographic work. His brother is the famous sculptor Filolaos. Son of a wood sculptor followed the profession of his father initially, but later he became a photographer, a very talented and passionate one. From 1945 and afterwards he opens a photography store in Larissa. He makes a very special photographic work. His main themes are the mountains of Pindos and Olympos, the Thessalian ground and its people, everyday life. Tloupas’ art photography one could say is much alike that of an ethnographer’s.

He began working as a professional photographer in 1940. A self-taught practitioner of great sensitivity, he loved everything beautiful created by nature and man. His natural talent, artistic skill and meticulous approach made him into a leading figure in the world of photography.

He is the photographer that with his work makes unique documentaries for his homeland; true master of the Greek light beyond the limits a dry naturalism. His work has been published in various photographic albums.

Takis Tloupas died 8th May of 2003 in his hometown, Larissa, which loved and lived all his life. He was married and father of two daughters.
