The educational programs of the Museum
Since 1991, the Department of the Educational Programs of the Museum d plans and applies educational programs for school teams, free programs and workshops for children, teenagers or families, for adults and handicapped children, cross-cultural educational programs for groups of gipsies, immigrants, etc.
At the same time, the collaboration of Museum - School is also developed outside the Museum with the thematic Museum Packs and the educational files and the educational material that is applied in the school class by the teacher.
The educational programs have subjects from Greek Modern Τradition, tangible culture and periodical exhibitions of the Museum, and they apply alternative ways of learning such as games, narration, workshops of craftsmanship etc) and interactive methods.
The Museum’s packs are portable suitcases with educational material that "travels" from Museum to schools or to other institutions. The material of the museum pack gives the opportunity to the teacher and his/her students to process a specified subject in the classroom with activities that can be connected not only with school subjects such as language, geography and aesthetic education, but also with alternative educational ways, such as theatrical play, ethnographical research, Museums visitations.
The Folklore Historical Museum Larissa has the following Museum Packs:
• Playing and learning in grandpa’s time: it contains audiovisual material, copies from museum material, archive with informative material for the teacher and activities for the students.
• Traditional Greek Costumes: it contains audiovisual material, archive with informative material for the teacher, sample book of fabrics, booklets of work, activities for the students (samples and directions on how to manufacture men's and woman's cloths).
The Museum Packs are a free of charge rental, after an arrangement with the Department of the Educational Programs of the Museum. Their didactic duration is from 2 to 4 hours.
